Acne is the most common ailment that we all face, and when a pimple pops up on our faces out of nowhere, all we are interested in is how to get rid of the nasty zit, and not the cause of it. Heredity, hormones, oil production, unbalanced diet or pollution are just some of the factors responsible for acne breakouts. For overnight acne remedy,  there are a myriad of treatment options - skin care techniques, diet plans, herbal remedies and medications. In this blog, we will shed some light on a few natural remedies for overnight acne relief, and at the same time offer you a few tips on your health and skin care.

‘Hands off’ Policy
First and foremost. Follow no hands policy ahead of all remedies. May be you wash your hands every time you had your meal, after using restrooms or sneezing but that doesn’t make your hands germ and bacteria free. Bacteria can accumulate while you work on your office computer, or pour coffee from the office dispenser or greet others. These harmful bacteria will further exacerbate the pimple if you try to touch it, and squeezing will definitely spread the bacteria further into your skin and may leave red marks and scars. So, hands off, and use a gentle and quality facial wipe to clean the affected area.

Yes to cleansing, No to scrubbing
Cleansing should be done no more than two times a day. If you have overactive sebum glands, over cleansing could exacerbate the problem.  Know your skin and test how often a day you should cleanse.  Cleansing will remove dirt and oil ensuring your pores stay open and clog free. Also, throw away soap based cleansing solutions and bars. They carry sodium laureth, which can cause irritation in the pimple areas. The benefit of using soap-free cleansers is that it is free from hard chemicals and synthetic binders. You can make your selection from numerous organic and natural ingredients like tea tree extracts (avoid immediate contact of air after applying tea tree oil on the acne), lemon, jojoba (will keep the skin moisturized), Juniper oil (natural antiseptic astringent) star-anise etc.

Scrubbing is an important part of the facial care but should be avoided with pimples. Scrubbing can harm the sensitive skin and can worsen the acne.

Be fussy
Not every beauty blog will ask you to be fussy, but being fussy is good sometimes. You should be over particular while choosing the skin care product for your acne prone skin. In fact you can seek a dermatologist’s advice for the same. Light exfoliating, oil or gel based product – it all depends on your skin type and nature of the acne.

Include Zinc, Vitamin A and C in your diet
Due to antioxidant properties, zinc is most commonly used in overnight acne treatments. One can include oysters, shrimps, shellfish, mushrooms, beans and tofu in meals as these are the best dietary source of Zinc. Vitamin A has anti-inflammatory properties and can balance the excessive oil production. The best source of Vitamin A are orange – yellow – green vegetables and fruits. On the other hand, vitamin C has healing properties which can be instrumental in repairing the damaged skin layers. Citrus fruits can be consumed for a dose of Vitamin C.  However, very minimal amount of ingested Vitamin C makes it to your skin cells.  Dermatologists recommend you apply Vitamin C to your skin directly.  This way it will be absorbed right into your skin.
